Pandora Plotting 1
Sep. 5th, 2009 07:49 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
If I recall correctly, in the past we'd decided that Reeve was Naomi's brother, and that she had been Naomi Tuesti before marriage. But now... Pandoraverse plottings (namely Naomi being from a prominent bloodline and Godo being in a position of power because of his marriage to her instead of being from the bloodline himself) have led me to wonder if that's the right call; in FF7 canon, Reeve isn't Wutai...an, so should he really be from that same bloodline? I still love the idea of him being their uncle (and I think we've established that in the 'verse), but I've been wondering if maybe he should be Toichi's brother instead... There's the family name conflict, obviously, if we go that way, but there are ways it can be explained: half brothers; he took his mom's maiden name; he changed it for some reason; etc.
===
This is an interesting question; I'll admit, I'd started wondering about it myself, today. So this is kind of ironic. And it also poses another question -- was Toichi part of the 'royal family' by birth, or was it through marrying Naomi? Or the other way around? Either way, I still like the idea of him being related. It'll lead to some interesting stuff, possibly, if he still ended up working for ShinRa like he did in FFVII.
Him being Toichi's sibling has possibilities; I kind of like the idea of them being half-brothers. Could say that he was an illegitimate child or something, perhaps?
===
I'm rather fond of the idea of half-brothers myself... And maybe I'm just imagining it, but I think they have some physical similarities, too.
Since we came to the decision that Godo was just some guy with a dojo, I'd been thinking that Naomi was the one from the 'royal family' and Toichi ended up in his position because of his marriage… but in all the pondering over Reeve, I had been wondering if Toichi would be better. All the ninja skillz come from mommy and her family, and... that just gave me a thought. If Toichi was the one from the 'royal family,' maybe mommy's clan was charged with protecting them? Toichi and bodyguard!Naomi fall in love, and (controversial) marriage ho~! (That would fit pretty nicely if we carry over the idea that Naomi and Godo were childhood friends and she would have ended up with him all along if she hadn't been swept off her feet by Toichi).
It also keeps Godo very neatly away from the royal line, and I have to admit I kind of like that. He's a bum. :(
Anyway! If Toichi was the one from the royal line, that leads to lots of Potential for Reeve being (deported) not a prominent figure in society. After all, illegitimate son of the royal family? It probably would have been kept pretty hush-hush. I do think he went to work for ShinRa, though... maybe to keep an eye on what they were up to (go go spy!Reeve)? Not sure if it would've been before or after the war, though. The war would've provided a good opportunity to slip off the radar.
===
Toichi would fit better, I agree. For pretty much all the reasons/hypothesizing things you just cited. Maybe Naomi's clan has some relation to the 'Five Mighty Gods' pagoda thing that we see in FF7? Since Godo's just a random guy she just happened to be childhood sweethearts with. … Lawl, I bet he didn't like Toichi. At any rate, this all pretty much fits in with what we've had going in the past, except we're swapping things around a bit? Mommy the ninja, and [male person] the political figure. Something like that. I like this.
I am starting to see a whole lot of controversy in this. How awesome. And yes, Godo the bum! The talented bum. … Now I'm imagine scenarios related to how they eventually ended up married.
Well, see, here's a (possible!) idea. Reeve's canonical mommy, Ruvie, lives in Midgar… so maybe they both got kinda squirreled out of the country and ended up there? And I like the idea of him being a spy, instead of just… idk, exiled, or something. It makes him useful. Maybe it was just after the war? So his motivation could have been suspicion over Toichi's death, or something.
===
Ooh, I like the idea of tying her in with the pagoda. The question there is how it's related, but maybe her clan were its keepers as well as being the protectors of the royal family... it could have been their "public face," so to speak. (I bet Toichi used that in his marriage: "Her family and their shrine is important to our country. 8D")
And no, I don't think Godo was happy at all 'bout Toichi marrying the girl he liked. (How they finally ended up together does deserve a nice scenario, or possibly its own story!)
One thing I'm really liking with Toichi being the one from the royal family is that it can contribute a LOT to Wutai's crushing defeat in the war and subsequent loss of morale afterwards... more so than if Naomi were the royal. It just kind of... works better if the actual royal were the one that was killed rather than it being the royal's husband.
I think Reeve was probably raised alongside Toichi for a certain number of years... I'm kind of inclined to say that he and Ruvie may have gone to Midgar before Reeve reached adulthood in order to keep him out of the public eye, but I think it's necessary for he and Toichi to have been close at one time. Maybe they kept in touch afterwards, too, either through correspondence or secret visits. And I definitely like the idea of him joining ShinRa because of suspicion over Toichi's death.
I'm also kind of leaning towards the idea of the twins not knowing him at the outset of the Pandoraverse story. Their meeting has more possibilities if they don't know who he really is. 8D
===
I like the idea of it being the "public face" of Naomi's clan, since it gives them a more than legitimate reason to be close with the royal family anyway. I also kind of like the idea of how it could be inherited: not just through "birthright", but also by trial? Like, you have to prove that you're worthy of it. …. And that leads to something else that could be interesting, namely- the twins being from the royal family. Instead of Yuffie inheriting the throne-or-whatever since she's the oldest, maybe she'll end up with the pagoda instead, while Kaito'd be in line for ruling the country? (… Now I'm imagining Aoko-the-shrine-maiden. What. Stopping that thought RIGHT THERE.)
Ooooh, definitely, definitely! Let's give it it's own story. Maybe he tried to take on the pagoda to prove that he was worthy of her affections, or something. /lame
How about mid-teens? Like, sixteen or so. That way there's already plenty of established-relationship stuff, but there's also a great deal of room for Toichi to go moonlighting off into the wild unknown (a.k.a Midgar) to visit his bro, and, idk, go for a pizza.
… Now that IS a good idea. But I'm betting he's kept tabs on them in some way, at least. Correspondence with Naomi would work for that, but it'd be kind of interesting if the twins thought somebody was spying on them, and traced it back to omg shinra? 8D;
===
AOKO THE SHRINE MAIDEN. YES. I LIKE IT. (*shot*)(Actually, I think her dad would still be involved in the police, or military, or militia... something. And maybe that's how she knows the royal family? I think she needs to be from Wutai rather than Midgar, but that also cuts out her dad chasing Kid... Though he may have a grudge against the thief for other reasons.)
I like the birthright+trial thing for inheriting the pagoda... It makes sense, and it ties kind of nicely into its FF7 role. (The idea of either twin ruling the country kind of makes me lawl... Depending on if Wutai is as male-dominated as Japan is, though, he'd probably be the inheritor of that anyway. But yeah, he totally wouldn't be in the running for the Pagoda, 'cause while he's more skilled in Pandoraverse than in Kleptoverse, he's not the ninja that Yuffie is.)
Godo probably had terrible timing for it. Challenged the pagoda and then found out she was engaged? I've also got this feeling that he may've convinced Naomi to marry him after Toichi's death in order to protect the twins... I doubt Naomi was a very prominent public figure in the international view, with most of the focus being on her husband, so after he died, she could slip into relative anonymity with a name change. The people of Wutai would know exactly who she and her children were, but it would help keep them from ShinRa's view...
I like the sound of sixteen-ish. It may have paved the way for him to end up pulling the Kid routine. And yeah, Reeve would totally be keeping tabs on his niece and nephew. They "go missing" early on in the story, and Naomi probably let him know right away so that he could keep an eye out for them.
===
SHE WOULD WIELD A MOP WITH TERRIFYING FEROCITY. (… She could be half, perhaps? Mother from Wutai, father from Midgar? Then you'd have a clear-cut reason for her dad to be chasing Kid. … Then again, coming up with some kind of alternate grudge could be equally interesting. Both have a lot of potential, I think.)
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. To both things, including the part about Wutai possibly being as male dominated as Japan. Kaito'd definitely not be suited to taking on the Pagoda, like you said. |D Big 'sis can do that… and then, lawl, she gets to ninja-ly protect him when he gets the country. Ha. That's almost ironic. Only… not.
Challenged the pagoda, got his butt kicked, AND found out that she was engaged. Poor guy. I feel sorry for him. So, hey, about this stuff here. Could I have some elaboration? :D It may effect The Thing that I've been working on… kind of a lot. If Naomi's slipping into obscurity, what does that mean for the government of that country, etc? :O Or are they basically being led by ShinRa? Blahblahblahstupidquestionsblah. And about the twins "going missing". Ages plz? And hiding place? And just how missing they are? 8D;; SORRY TWIN.
===
DAUGHTER OF THE PALACE JANITOR. (/shot)
Anyway, that doesn't really work because she needs to be in Wutai in order to have known Kaito and Yuffie since childhood; the only reason her dad would be chasing Kid (without having some kind of grudge) was if he were part of ShinRa or some Midgar law enforcement, not because of nationality. Kid doesn't usually operate in Wutai for Pandoraverse (because lawl, Toichi stealing in his own country?). I think I mentioned before that I was thinking about having the persona of "Kid" be based on some character from Wutaian folktales, and Nakamori may get up-in-arms over that. Or something.
The situation really does crack me up... but it's always been amusing to me to remember that Yuffie's technically a princess in FF7. And yes, it's totally ironic, 'specially when you consider they've both got stubborn motivations to protect each other in Kleptoverse and Kaito's all "I'm the man of the house; I'mma protect my sis." |D
Hmm... I think it's something where Wutai is still autonomous, but only in name. Midgar (and ShinRa) is probably looming over them as a controlling power, and the royal family reduced to figureheads. I'd like your input on that, though, because you're much better versed with the state of affairs in FF7, and I love canon incorporation/mirroring.
As for the twins going missing, they're 17 and it's kind of the entire premise for the story I'm writing. (Well, sort of. More like the set-up? They decide to leave Wutai for various reasons.) They don't really have a "hiding place" while they're gone, and as far as the locals are concerned, they are *very* missing. (But it's kept quiet, so I don't think ShinRa's aware at first.)
===
JANITOR(ESS!?) IN TRAINING. …. Aoko as a butler. Sporfle.
Ahh, I gotcha. I can't really see him working DIRECTLY for ShinRa (idk, something about that kinda strikes me as off?), but I can kind of see him… being, like. Um, this is hard to word. YEAH, anyway, Midgar law-enforcement (more under the jurisdiction of territory-level officials, rather than being controlled right from the top? Idk). Maybe he kind of supports the sentiment behind Kid's actions, but is like 'ARGH NO NO NO YOU'RE DOIN IT RONG stoppit before you screw over the rest of us. D8' or something? … Somethingsomethingsomething.
Lol, yeah. You wouldn't believe the number of times it's come up in chat conversation, and people have been like "wait, what? Since when is she a princess?". For me it's one of the most integral parts of her character, but it's also one that isn't really… overt? Anyways, yes, irony ftw. ♥ And then Yuffie's all like "nuh-uh, I'm older and I'mma protect YOU." …. SPEAKING OF YUFFIE, something I absolutely HAVE to ask. Since, yeah, you've included the war. FF7!Yuffie absolutely despises the war and what it did to her country (and by proxy was incredibly ashamed of her family, etc, etc, blah.), and she was… pretty loud about it. And then there was the whole 'I'mma steal from potential innocent travellers and I don't care cuz it's for WUTAI!' attitude. Are you planning on bringing any of that across?
Ohgodtl;dr, I'm so sorry. I could talk forever about this stuff. RIGHT. The way I see things in FF7 is pretty similar to what you've got there. They're allowed to keep chugging along under the condition that they a) didn't have a standing army (lol head canon), b) the use of materia was heavily restricted, if not outright banned under some circumstances, and c) they didn't step a toe out of line as far as politics was concerned. ShinRa didn't want to go through the trouble of having to outright dictate everything for them, but Godo was pretty much an empty figurehead. "The war brought peace, but with it, we lost something else" to paraphrase/quote Yuffie. So… sort of a false laissez-faire attitude from ShinRa. My interpretation is that after Yuffie kicked Godo's ass all over the pagoda, she got the ball rolling for that to change (and that by the time Dirge of Cerberus rolls around, she's working on truly re-asserting Wutai's status as it's own independent nation). So… for Pandoraverse, it'd be kind of neat to see how Midgar pulls the strings.
AHAHA. Okay. This is going to be… ahaha, anyway. One other question -- Shinichi, from Wutai or Midgar? I kind of like the idea that he's NOT from Wutai… or maybe his family was at one point, but they resettled elsewhere for whatever reason. Idk. Um. The story I was writing kind of has him coming INTO Wutai whilst the Twin's are away, but not as a resident. I can change that if it doesn't fit with your plans.
===
I see it as working this way: back when Kid started operating, Nakamori was a bright-eyed, bushy-tailed young law enforcement officer in Wutai. Wutai was already in kind of a perilous position with Midgar back then, and this thief comes along and starts robbing places all across the world. And this so-called "phantom" is obviously (to someone from Wutai, at least, or well-versed in their folklore) based on Wutaian tales. I think Nakamori may have taken a personal offense to this (Wutaian pride?), and took it upon himself to bring the thief to justice to prove (possibly to himself) that it wasn't someone from Wutai (lawl). When Kid disappeared after the war, I don't think he would've gone running off to Midgar, so he probably stayed in Wutai in some kind of security position.
As for what I'm carrying over for Yuffie... *Somewhat*. It's a little difficult to explain, unfortunately... There is some robbing/sabotaging/etc. going on, but not until much, much, much later than it started in FF7, because even though it has its similarities, her personal situation is much different than in FF7. But I think she and Kaito both have a bit of an attitude towards the rest of their family because of the war, which is why I think they up and moved out (next door).
And regarding Wutai & ShinRa: yeah, that's kind what I was thinking ('cept substituting "Midgar" for "ShinRa" in Pandoraverse). I regard post-war Wutai as being in a very similar situation to Japan after WW2.
No, I like the idea of Shinichi not being from Wutai; I had never decided anything *for sure,* but it's kind of awkward to think of him living in Wutai. His ancestry would need to be Wutaian (because, well, he's Wutaian in Kleptoverse, and ancestries need to remain consistent across all 'verses), but I think his family moved away some time before the war, if not a generation or two ago. Hattori... probably still in Wutai, but in the Osaka area, so he doesn't know the twins (like all the locals would). Hakuba would have the half-Wutaian, half-British thing going on still, but I'm not sure if he would have come to Wutai before the twins left (because at that time, there was no Kid to come chase).
===
Aspfijdksma; SORRY, I'm like 10 years late in replying to this. Just got home from work (kind of) recently. Man. What a daaa~ay. I apologize if I'm not as tl;dr as usual; kind of braindead and tired, BUT OH WELL. Also, thanks for wishing me well last night. ♥ I feel a lot better now than I did then.
… Oho, that pauses an interesting (to me) question. If he's in a security position, would it be under the (limited?) control of Wutai, or ShinRa? Lawl, I can just imagine him being all "KID IS AN INSULT TO WUTAI. D8' or something.
As for that… ooh, personal situation? Please do be elaborating, if it isn't ridiculously complicated? Knowing my luck it's probably pretty simple and I should be able to just GUESS, but, idk. Humour me. Unless it's just that she's more deeply tangled up in stuff, considering she's got a sibling, etc.? At any rate, I can sorta see her holding more extreme views than Kaito. Maybe. Lawl, next door. I've been trying to imagine their house and stuff, basing it on what we see in the Wutai section of FF7. Man. Her house is ADORABLE. There isn't a sketch of her actual living quarters, though, orz.
Considering Kudo's parents, maybe they moved away to pursue their acting careers, and actually got their kid to go with them in this verse? I can see Midgar (or wherever else) being a lot more… I dunno, suitable for that kind of thing. Would Hattori still RECOGNIZE the twins if he saw them? Or their names. Whatever. And I don't think Hakuba would've gone to Wutai early, myself, unless another case brought him there. … ABOUT THE DETECTIVE BOYS, by the way, I. Sort of have something that might be involving them? And in Wutai, too, so. If you have any objections, please to be raising them? I was thinking of having them living local to the twins.
….Pffffhahahaha. I just had a really, really random thought. Have you made any plans for Socks et al yet? He'd still be with the org, naturally, but I just started imagining him having a roll in some kind of media. Like, newspaper stuff. All undercover-like. /shot
===
Even though Wutai can't have any military power, any police force (or whatnot) that exists for domestic matters would be, I think, still intact. There are probably a lot of restrictions placed on it, though. I sort of see Nakamori either being in said force or acting as a sort of guard-for-hire.
As for Yuffie's personal situation, I meant it in the sense of her life different than her FF7 life. Daddy's dead, Mommy's alive and remarried (to a bum), she's got a brother, probably has more extended family (even though she probably hates, like, all of them), Wutai doesn't have a population of 10 (*shot*), etc. SPEAKING OF FAMILY (and houses)... I'm the house Naomi and Godo live in very similar to Godo's in FF7, but I have a difficult time thinking of it as being the, erm, royal household. The palace, or what-have-you. After Toichi died, while stuff happened and she remarried, I think they left the palace to the remnants of the royal family to a) protect the kidlets, and b) not feel so awkward without Toichi there. If it's still part of the royal family's estates, it was a summer home or something; or, maybe it's just a really nice mansion. Yuffie's house in FF7 is kind of removed from Godo's, but I'm thinking the twins house in Pandoraverse is nearer; possibly just a second building on the same property (but no Godo allowed there).
I'm inclined to say that both sets of Kudo's grandparents (or further back) were the ones to go to Midgar; otherwise, I'm not sure Kudo's parents would have gone into acting and writing... Or, in other words, I think both his mom and dad were born in Midgar. Shinichi, too, I picture more as being born in Midgar, so there was no need for convincing him to come; he was just there all along. As for Hattori, no, I don't think he'd recognize them. He'd know the names "Kaito and Yuffie Kuroba" (but not "Kaito and Yuffie Kisaragi," though it would raise suspicion). Recognizing their faces and new last names would be more of a thing for people in the immediate local area where the twins live (and that's just 'cause they're infamous). THAT SAID... There does exist some amount of chance that he'd find their faces familiar, even if he couldn't quite place them, because of the news. I don't think they've been seen publicly *as* the royal heirs since the war, but speculation and old pictures in the hands of a detective...
I have no plans as of yet for the Detective Boys, but I'd like to hear whatever you're plotting in order to clear it. As for Socks, I've been bouncing ideas around, but I haven't solidified anything. I may be able to work media stuff in to the things I'd been thinking.
===
Guard for hire? THAT could be kind of cool. Though I kinda think that he'd be more suited to a place in those restricted forces you mentioned, for the most part.
Whether she hated them would depend on their attitude towards a) her b) Kaito, and c) the war, probably. And, yeah, their personalities in general. … lawl, I can see most of the Extended Family being the prim n' proper sort of nobility that she'd just love to despise from head to toe. I like the idea of the mansion/summer home, though; the palace thing would just be… kind of awkward, yeah. And would possibly still catch too much media attention. As for the Twin's actual home… I had an interesting thought. Even if it weren't on the same actual property, it could be linked to it? FF7 shows that Wutai has tunnels and secret passage-ways galore; that way the Twins would get their own place, but home would still be easily (and sneakily) accessible?
I'm kind of liking this "speculation and old pictures in the hands of a detective" thing. It could lead to some Interesting happenings… and, lol, I'm suddenly reminded of Vampire Game, where Ishtar comes up with the names "Ish" and "Du" as a cover; Hattori could find it weird that somebody would name their kids after the missing heirs… which is basically what you said about raising suspicion, but anyway.
No concrete plotting as of yet, but it's sort of tied into that thing that I'm writing, which probably won't end up fitting in with your verse ANYWAY. But we'll see? It's not really a big role for them; they're basically acting the part of the 'informative' NPC-types you get in RPG games, with… added extras, considering who they are. And if any of those ideas you have for Socks are solid enough to share, I'd love to hear 'em!
===
What it'll come down to for Nakamori is what ends up working better once he gets included in the story. As a guard for hire, he's got more leeway to go chase Kid around the world; as an officer, not so much. We'll see.
Yeah, "prim and proper" is the image I have in mind for, like, 75% of the royal family, thus my speculation that she'd hate their guts for the most part. That and her grudge about the war. I don't think Kaito hates them quite as much (he might even like most of them), but he totally sides with his sister on the whole thing. For the house(s), the royal family (or at least Toichi) had to have owned them prior to the war for the secret room thing to work out. And I agree that Naomi's house and the twins' house are linked via tunnels... but prior to the beginning of the Pandoraverse story, I'm not sure the twins exactly know about the tunnels. Well, not *all* of them. They probably know about the main one linking the houses together, but there are probably a bajillion more.
One more thing on the twins where Hattori may end up being concerned... The official line is that the twins are alive and living secluded in the palace. I think most people in Wutai know that that is not actually the case, but if an outsider asked about them, they'd stick to the "in the palace" story. When the twins go missing (read: leave Wutai), it's kept *very* quiet; the local people would realize they haven't seen the twins lately, but wouldn't think *too* much of it... Especially if Naomi and Godo came up with a cover story about them going back to the palace. So the general population of Wutai wouldn't know they're gone. (They'll totally need to come up with aliases while they're in Wutai, though, so as not to blow their cover sky-high.)
Comparing the Detective Boys to RPG NPCs makes me giggle. |D
As for Socks... it's difficult to say. Mostly because the ideas are still in the stage of formation where I can't really describe it, mostly because there are a lot of or's and maybe's involved. He's likely going to have some kind of legitimate job as a cover for what he really does, and that's where something media-related may come in.
===
Can't wait to see which way it ends up going. ♥ …. And completely unrelated to Nakamori, I've now got vague longings for another picture. Like that commission I had done for Kleptoverse. But, uh, only based on the twins this time, and for Pandoraverse. (Part of the reason: I have been lol'ing to death over the idea of both of them wearing formal (read as: 'royal' clothing.)).
Kaito's nicer than Yuffie is. :[ Going by her FF7-stuff, she's all harsh and unsympathetic and is rather nonchalant/casual about that. And plus she'd totally rather be running around bare-footed and climbing trees than acting dainty and princess-like. The tunnel system is a good idea~ and I especially like the 'bajillion more' idea; like, a whole network of them, or something. It'd be kind of neat if the twins had knowledge of some of the less important ones… like, the ones out in the rest of the city. Kind of like Fred and George from Harry Potter. /shot
… HAHA aliases. Might I make a suggestion? Yuffie's totally has to be linked with flowers. Like, Hanako, or something better/cooler/something.
Hey, one semi-unrelated thing that I'm curious about! What's the rest of the world's attitude towards Wutai? My head canon for FF7 is that most people are kind of 'pfft' about them, and attitudes sort of slope downwards from there (due to ShinRa propoganda, etc.), though that isn't necessarily to say that everybody OMG HATED WUTAI or anything.
They'd make awesome NPCs! They'd be cute and sometimes annoying and enthusiastic and drag the protagonist into all sorts of trouble while he's supposed to be doing something else! … Which is basically kind of the direction that The Story Thing was taking, but I digress.
I'll admit to really liking something media related for Socks; it'd give him connections, it'd be easy enough to make it look legit, and… stuff. \o/ I can't see him being an 'in-the-field' reporter or anything of the type, though. At any rate, once again, looking forward to seeing what you come up with, as and when you need to use it.
===
The idea of the twins in formal Wutaian clothing makes me lawl, too. I'd actually been wondering what it would look like... I was thinking some hybrid of old-timey Japanese and Chinese formal clothing, which makes me lawl even more because that puts Yuffie in, like, twenty pounds of clothing. (I bet she HATES formal events with an intense, burning hatred.)
And that's why Yuffie gets the shrine. ♥
Did I imagine it, or in FF7 were there crazy tunnels that connected Yuffie's house to the weapons shop? In any case, yeah, whole networks of tunnels running under any major city in Wutai. I don't think any royal properties would be connected to buildings other than other royal properties, but they probably have escape points in the middle of the woods or whatnot in order to have the functional use of escape tunnels in case of an emergency. The twins probably know a good chunk of the tunnel system (and totally use them to get off scot-free after pranks).
I'll have to think on aliases for a bit. I'll keep flowers in mind for Yuffie's, though. :D
The rest of the world... I think there's a massive indifference to Wutai. During the war, people were probably hateful of them on general principle, but it's been so long that I don't think they really care anymore. (Though they may be a little "lol, Wutai," if you catch my drift.)
I already showed you what I think of NPC!Munchkins. 8D
I sort of picture Socks in a newspaper office. Sitting back with a cuppa coffee and telling other guys what to do. Or, I dunno, writing the obituaries. EITHER OR.
===
Draw it? **shot** I think Kaito'd look really cool in formal clothing… kinda weird, but cool. And yeah, I agree that it'd probably be a mix of Japanese and Chinese; that's… pretty much how I, personally, have everything to do with Wutai. Yuffie would demand payment from whoever made her wear formal clothing. "TWO PIECES OF MATERIA OR I'M NOT DOING IT." Also. Speaking of which. I kinda imagine it to look something like this. |D http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/dynastywarriors/images/1/13/Sunshangxiang-dw5artwork.jpg
… Semi-kinda related to that topic. Kaito's had the same kind of training as Yuffie, but what kind of weapons does he use? I'll admit that I just got some lulz at imagining him as a healbot.
I think you were imagining that one, but Yuffie DID hide out on/in the roof of the weapons shop. And it's not entirely implausible that there *could* be some tunnels there… OH, yeah, and d'you remember the tunnel that leads from the gong-thingie/little shrine thing to Godo's place? Hmm… lawl. I can imagine that there's a bunch of trick tunnels, too. Those would be fun. Except now I'm getting ideas for a slightly cliché fic in which tunnels are being explored, and then promptly cave in.
Socks probably does sneaky stuff to get his reporters where they shouldn't be. And then blames it on somebody else so that they get their faces chewed off by irate bosses/etc. instead of him.
===
I may have to try, if I come up with a mesh that I like. I think Kaito's not all that fond of the clothes, either, but I doubt he hates them as much as Yuffie. I betcha that Yuffie's had to wear court clothes without getting her demanded bribe, though. (Or maybe Kaito's been bribed/convinced/coerced to poof her into them in a split second on occassion? 8D)
PRETTY PICTURE IS PRETTY. Hmm. I'm going to have to keep those clothes in mind.
The weapons question is a good one. I don't think he's all that good at weapons, expect for maybe some projectile-style ones (like bows, or to a lesser extent NON-GIANT shuriken). I don't think Wutai's heavy in the firearms department, otherwise he'd take to guns. As amusing (and actually tempting) as the healbot idea is, I don't think he would be one. I do think he'd have some ability for it, though, on par with Yuffie's healing abilities.
Maybe the gong-to-Godo's tunnel is what I was thinking of. At the very least, I think there are a lot of dead ends to prevent people who don't know the tunnels from being able to use them effectively.
I dunno. I'm sort of liking him having a bottom-of-the-ladder obits job now. Sitting at his desk and muttering to himself about how correct/incorrect they are. 8D
===
Yuffie would rather wear short-shorts and no shoes and go frolicking around in woodlands than wear anything formal (I think she LIKES the clothes, kind of, but only as long as they *not on her*.) Also she'd refuse to ever forgive him if he poofed her into them -- or she'd at least get her revenge afterwards. Naturally. …. By the way, this is several shades of completely random, but I've always imagined that the royal colours for Wutai are green and gold.
ISN'T IT. I love that image. The character is also pretty cool, too. I always think of her when I try to picture Yuffie's mother. Here, have another one! http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/dynastywarriors/images/d/dc/Sunshangxiang-dw5.jpg
I can actually imagine Kaito using a lot of status effect magic, and stuff like Time (maybe?). And if not a GIGANTIC HUGE shuriken, how about a neat little boomerang? Of sorts. He could fling it at something armoured and listen to it go 'DING'. And yeah, in canon, they're not really heavy on guns… though the little boys carry guns around and they've got some scary lookin' polearm things. http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/Gaumaru/WutaiBoy.jpg http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f54/Gaumaru/WutaiSoldier.jpg
Gong-to-Godo, lawl. Dead ends are a fun idea. As long as the tunnels don't, idk, get flooded while people are down there. That wouldn't be too fun.
Pfffthaha, lawl. Inner!Socks protests! Unless he's undercover. His preferred low-end part-time job involves food, like bar work, but. Whatever.
===
By the way, I think the reason Kaito hates court clothes less than Yuffie is that he's not the one in a twenty-pound dress. Male fancy clothes are always much simpler than female ones. Green and gold works well for Wutai, I think. I was looking at some Chinese olde time clothes stuff, and it sounded like the colors the emperor wore were red, blue, light blue, or yellow, but I don't really like those for the main color scheme. So.
Hmm, I think I can picture the status effect magic, but only after thinking about it for a while. Probably because the idea of him actively using real magic is kind of wacky to me... You know those little paper talisman thingies (that are usually seen in relation to exorcism-type stuff)? Fuda, or whatever? I can actually kind of see him having a stash of those that he uses his magic in conjunction with as a way of channeling it... 'cause in keeping with Kleptoverse, he's got little (to no) talent for materia use, but he's got potential for lifestream magic.
GUN IN BAG. I LIKE IT. Kaito's probably got a small pistol like that one. Wutai pics are useful. Got any more?
Well, it's probably been a long time since anyone's actively used 'em, other than Toichi and the twins. I think the royal family keeps their escape routes maintained, but the rest are probably perilous. Actually, I take that back on the use thing: they probably got a lot of use during the war, but they're STILL probably not in excellent repair these days.
Well, it's his cover job. He doesn't get to protest. 8D
...I now have the mental image of Verdot working as a bartender in a night club. THANKS, TWIN.
===
Okay, at some point (or several points), Yuffie has *got* to get Kaito to wear some of her formal stuff. If it weren't for the insane height difference, she'd probably try to persuade him to switch places with her sometimes, just for the lulz. As for Wutai's colours: the main town, at least, has the whole 'red!' thing going on with it's colour scheme, which I like quite a lot. I got the idea of green and gold from the stuff that the soldiers wear, as well as the clothes Yuffie wears in CC.
Oooh, that's a neat idea! (So I'm guessing that Yuffie could still wipe the floor with him. 8D) I can also see him using… sneaky weapons. Like, stuff that were modified so that they could function as a weapon. Bad wording, but. As a back-up in case he really needs it, since this 'verse sounds like it might be a little more dangerous (in some ways).
GUN IN A BAG. It's kind of cute. The kid looks so cheerful (and kind of reminds me of a grumpy child!Verdot, for some reason. Probably the hair. And the gun.)
As for more pictures… mm, I don't think there's anymore art book stuff (apart from those sketches I showed you a while back). The only other things I have are location screenshots:

… lawl, smite. http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/mm222/lp_ccff7_01/0138.png I really wish I could make out the image on the red banner. I think it might be… a snake or a dragon? Maybe Leviathan.
And here's some non-Wutai-specific art book pics! http://ahvia.livejournal.com/254200.html
Another point of interest for the tunnels thing is the Da Chao mountains. I think there were some cave systems there, including the one with this fire that never burns out; you need the Leviathan Scales to pass through it. Now I'm tempted to somehow drop Kudo into some of the tunnels somewhere. Somehow.
Verdot would be awesome at mixing drinks. GIVE HIM THE JOB.
===
I bet she had him masquerade as her a bunch when they were younger. They were probably about the same size until puberty, when Kaito got growth spurts and Yuffie... didn't. I can actually see Yuffie not minding formal stuff too terribly if daddy asked real nicely (and by "real nicely," I mean that he knew how to talk her into it).
Yes, she could. He's a good acrobat, but he's much more suited for being sneaky-sneaky and coming up with strategies 'n' stuff. Agreed on the sneaky weapons; I'm pretty sure I know what you mean. And yeah... this 'verse is a lot more dangerous.
Mm, not seeing the kiddie!Verdot, honestly. The expression and hair work for him, but the posture 'n' stuff... not so much.
Sadness. Need some Wutai wimmens artwork. And the banner looks like a dragon twisting around a sword to me. ...Random, I love how the ShinRa employee in the lab coat looks. I kind of want to give him a name and use him in the story. Or pretend he's young!Reeve or something. 8D
Hahahaha, poor Kudou. ♥ Yeah, I remember the caves in there. There were, like, levers.
I think I'm going to have to. It just fits him too well. And oh man, the kind of info he must pick up listening to drunk people blab... He'd be really into his part of a friendly listener.
===
Yeah, they probably were. And, well, I've always thought that Yuffie could have passed pretty easily for a boy when she was younger, so. They probably drove people crazy by doing that. Daddy probably had a knack for talking her into stuff (I don't think she'd have ever hero-worshipped him like Kaito might(?) have, but I'd say he's better at parenting than Godo. Ahahaha. And therefore she'd be more inclined to listen. A little.)
They'd make a formidable team. ♥ So, does this 'verse have the monsters and stuff present in FF7? I know that we said Klepto/South had monsters too, but I also recall us deciding that they weren't really all that common. Kind of like how lions aren't all that common, or something.
Yeah, it was mostly the hair and expression that reminded me of him. I also cannot imagine Verdot wearing pointy shoes. As funny as that would be.
I really wish there was more artwork for Wutai. ;; I'd have liked to see some examples of the wimmens, since… yeah, Yuffie isn't the best example to use. And that's pretty much what I saw, too. Can you see any legs, or anything? I'm being a dork and cross-referencing it with a picture of FF7s Leviathan… which it doesn't look much like. Baww.
Socks should swing by sometime to groan about HIS cover work. Or not. I can't think of whether or not that'd be in character right now, but oh well~.
===
My personal impression that Toichi is someone who really loved children, and it was easy for him to get along with them. Granted, we don't see him very much, and when we do he's in adult situations, but I think the fact that he brought Kaito with him to said situations (poker game, meeting with Yukiko) says somethin'. ANYWAY. Yeah.
Agreed about Yuffie probably being able to pass for a boy. I can totally imagine Kaito 'n' Yuffie playing the "which one is ___?" game when they were young.
Yes, it has monsters. (*cue evil laughter*) In really urban places, not so much, but there's a less urbanization in Pandoraverse. A LOT less.
Well, if he had to go to Wutai... (...And now I have images of him transferring to that bar/inn/thing in Wutai that I can't remember the name of. The one the Turks were drinking at. Something about paradise? Or a turtle? I don't remember.)
I didn't notice any legs in particular, but it'd be a Chinese-style dragon, which has very small limbs if any. Look up Chinese dragon artwork.
Do it, do it, do it. And send me fic. :D :D :D
...Ahahah, I can totally see them liaising at the bar and talking to each other through code. "Today Sally had a ham sandwich. She doesn't even like ham! And she spent the whole break complaining and trying to pass the sandwich off onto me," is code for "Gin is a bitch, hates me, and totally slacked on that last assignment." Yes. ♥
===
Toichi's that kind of guy, yeah. ♥ He's awesome and fun and really does make a great role model. Godo, on the other hand… I think he's kind of childish, in a way? That's not really the right word for it. He's kind of hot headed and egocentric.
I bet they did it ALL the time. Especially when they weren't supposed to. "Oh, hay, look! There's an important meeting coming up. LET'S SWITCH."
… Why is there evil laughter, Twin? Are you planning something? Tell meeeeeeeeeeeee. So there's not as many big cities or anything? That's kind of neat.
The bar (it's not an inn, as far as I can tell) thingie is called Turtles Paradise. It's pretty neat, and I kinda liked the side quest they had (find 6 Turtle's Paradise posters scattered around the globe, and they give you free stuff), and the design is cool in a messy kind of way.
Ahh, yeah; I googled Chinese dragons a little bit before I received this message, and… well, that fits. Cool. I was also watching a CC walkthrough and noticed a rather neat looking Leviathan fountain, in the courtyard area/central complex of Fort Tamblin (just before Zack meets Yuffie). Wutaian architecture for the win~. … I apologize if I geek out about this a little. IDK. It just appeals to me.
…… But. ….. Maybe I'll email it to you. /sobs
I just rofled, only not literally. That. Can totally see that happening. "Saw Greg yesterday. He said he nearly got fired; something to do with his boss' girlfriend." … Though I have to say, Socks bitching about Gin is amusing.
===
Protip: the word you're looking for is "bum."
♥
But yeah. Toichi's great, and when he's childish, it's in the mature (non-selfish) kind of way. Egocentric is actually a very good way to describe Godo; he's got that self-serving thing going on to an extent. (Granted, I kind of think it's a defense mechanism to put up a tough front, but... he overdoes it?)
It's a shame Kaito's so much taller than Yuffie; he's got such a narrow build that he could probably still pull off being Yuffie if they were the same height. (And now, more from mental image theatre: Yuffie and Kaito pretending to be each other while the royal family attempts to have them meet prospective partners for arranged marriages.)
The evil laughter is innocent, if there can be such a thing. It was more for the potential, 'cause Pandoraverse is a dangerous place. Anyway, Midgar is probably the most urbanized country, but said urbanization is sort of in clustered groups. Back in the day, we said that Midgar is the US of the 'verse; using that as an example, there would be a lot of cities on the east and west coasts, and not very much at all in the Midwest and the more remote areas. Anyway, the monsters steer totally clear of the urban areas, but they're not uncommon to see around (but not in, usually) smaller towns.
Rocket Town is gonna be in Midgar, btw, in one of the less urban areas. I has plans for it. 8D
...Lawl, I can't believe I remembered both of the words in the bar's name from the poster things. I do really like it's design.
===
Pfffhaha. Yes. Oh, Godo, you bum.
He's actually a really interesting guy when I think about it, but he's definitely the parental type. (And self-defence mechanism sounds likely, yeah. He likes to talk big, but he's had his confidence knocked and because of *that*… As Yuffie might put it in FF7!verse, he's all talk, and too much of a coward to stand up and do what needs to be done.)
… Which poses the question, how on Earth does he manage to pass himself off convincingly as a girl who's probably shorter than him (like Ran, for instance. Can't remember her height.)? … Oh man, arranged marriages. The twins would have a field day rebelling against that.
Evil laughter? From you? Innocent? I guess I'll trust you this once on that front, though past experience warns me against doing so. :[ About urbanization, though! I actually heard an interesting theory about the smaller towns in FF7; maybe they were stopped from expanding more partially *because* of the monsters? I think they'd be a huge deterrent, especially since not everybody is equipped to deal with them efficiently (which would mean there'd be plenty of work for bounty hunters and mercenary types~.)
Plans for it? Please to be sharing. I like hearing your plans.
IN THAT CASE all I can do is apologize if I get to tl;dr. … Which, actually, brings up another point. I've been thinking a lot about Yuffie's 'real life' in Damned, and I was wondering if you'd mind tossing some ideas around with me at some point? :D
…. /siiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. 8[ Oh, you.
Uh, not that I know of… we used to have one years and years back, but not anymore. I'll get in touch with my mother and see if she's got one (probably not), or maybe my grandma might. By the way, I'm going to be calling Yuffie's shorts "the silly pants" forever now. Thanks.
===
...Actually, wow. Ran and Yuffie are the same height, given the height you've got for Yuffie (160cm). Huh. Well, for Ran, I think she was wearing heels that night, so there's something to be said for that. Same style shoe, but a shorter heel, and no one would notice. Posture also makes a pretty big difference. Maybe he can still pull Yuffie off after all. 8D
(In Pandoraverse, maybe he has a tiny bit of magic assisting height differences).
I don't think towns would have much trouble driving off monsters in order to expand, but there's something to be said about population. If you don't have the population to support an expansion, it's not going to go anywhere. And if people aren't moving there, you won't have the population.
Well, Cid's going to still be from there, for one. The rocket's still there, too, but... Well, let's just say there are more than a few disgruntled people from Rocket Town that have made a slight career change. 8D
===
… What, really? Huh. That's an interesting coincidence. I'd always thought Ran'd be something like 5'5". (I used to think that Yuffie was shorter, lawl, but her official bio proved me wrong.) Now you *definitely* have to have Kaito pretend to be Yuffie at some point. It'd be awesome.
Mmn, good point. Except now I'm imagining a Tonberry infestation in Verdot's bar/nightclub (even though that's super-duper unlikely to happen, unless… idk, Socks decided to play a rather elaborate joke). What. Where is my brain. Did you steal it?
Ohoho. Do these people happen to answer to the name of "Sky"?
===
I was surprised. And yeah, I thought Ran was taller than that. Well, now we know, and knowing is half the battle!! (Yeah, Kaito's gotta pretend. 'specially in situations where Yuffie would be sitting, it'll be easy.)
...Lawl. Probably not a good idea; I think the wild Tonberry falls squarely into the category of "do not approach!" And no, I don't have your brain. :(
(I might have to have the bar he works at have somethin' to do with Tonberry. Hmm...)
Maaaaaaybe. But there are only three Sky's, and a lot more disgruntled townsfolk than just three. They could form a guild. 8D
===
It's sad that Yuffie couldn't take his place anywhere near as easily, since she doesn't have his nifty voice mimicry.
Ahaha, yeah, that's what I thought. Adding the fact that they're really rare and usually hang out in cold, dark caves... Well, at any rate, if you find my brain, drop me a line. :[ I need that.
(The bar could have a special offer. Tonberry Tuesdays; all knock-out drinks half price!)
A guild. The first thing that came to mind? WoW. You've infected meeee. Now I'm imagining all the folks from Rocket Town organizing a raid.
===
I was actually thinking about that. If she kept quiet, she could do it, I think... But it's also easier to look shorter without drawing attention than it is to look taller. Still, if she were in court clothes, she could probably hide platform shoes or something. I was also toying around with the idea of her being taught enough by Kaito for their pranks when they were kids that maybe she could manage a similar enough voice to his, depending on what she says and how hard she's concentrating on it.
(Hahaha, I like the idea of Tonberry Tuesdays. Will use.)
...Bwahaha, awesome. The infection is good. 8D
(Lawl, Rocket Town raid group. Do want. I may have to use that somehow, and I kind of can with what I've got planned. I need to write some of the Rocket Town segment so you can see~)
Two questions.
1. In FF7 canon, was it said how long the war with Wutai lasted?
and 2. On a scale from 1 to 10, with 1 being saintly and 10 being downright devilish, how evil is it if I decide that Kaito saw Toichi's death in Pandoraverse?
===
10 years. I can check it to the month, if you want.
9.99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999, obviously. ♥ In other words, DO IT. Though I have to ask, where was Yuffie? :O
She could probably pull it off if the people being fooled didn't know the twins very well; she'd have a bit more difficulty with... say, somebody they saw day in, day out. I agree that she could pull it off when wearing formal clothing, though.
Infection is NOT good. :[
(Ohh, writing things up IS good. You should do that~. Lawl, raid group. Would Cid be the ring-leader?)
===
...Holy crap, that's a long war. I'm not sure it'll be that long in Pandoraverse, but if it is? That means it started probably right after Toichi started his Kid shtick.
My current idea is this: A number of Midgar soldiers had made it into the capital, and they were being fought off there. Kaito and Yuffie split up, with Yuffie helping to fight and Kaito being charged with reporting what was happening to the palace. Unfortunately, he wasn't the first one to make it to the palace...
I'm still debating it, of course, because of the psychological impact it would've had. If I go with it, though, I don't think he told anyone that he saw, though Mommy might know (depending on how the scene goes)
===
Yeaaaaah, I know, right? (Though it gives me interesting stuff to work with in Damned, since Yuffie pretty much grew up with war.) SPEAKING OF WHICH I HAVE SOMETHING REALLY INTERESTING TO SHOW YOU. Did'ja know, Yuffie was originally supposed to be an ex-SOLDIER? And 25? And a bounty hunter? And-and-and. http://thelifestream.net/final-fantasy-vii/4108/early-material-file-character-files-p-520-523-of-the-final-fantasy-vii-ultimania-omega/
Hmmmn, you could do some REALLY interesting things with that. And I'm a sucker for childhood trauma in fiction. But at the same time, it might be pushing it a little.
===
I... I kind of really want to go with it, but I'm really conflicted over it. On the one hand, it opens up the potential for some plotty story stuff, but on the other, I do keep stepping back and pondering whether it'll work with how Kaito's character ended up eight years later. (Though I have to admit: I have this terrible urge to go with it and work it so that it's where his Pandoraverse-version fear of fish comes from. Somehow. So that it's less ichthyphobia and more a trigger for remembering what happened that day.)
===
Mmmm... maybe you could soften the impact somehow? Can't phrase it properly. But... Yeah, gonna give up while I'm behind. (Aww, but if you do that, Yuffie wouldn't be able to torment him to death with her fishy friends. /shot)
(Maybe you could incorporate Izayoi - which I just spelled "Izayaoi" et al into the royal family or something-such? :O)
===
Yeah, I was looking at Izayoi and Sasame for some kind of incorporation... I see Sasame as being some snooty, aloof member of the aristocracy, possibly a cousin of Toichi's. Maybe have Izayoi linked to the shrine? She could have been the leader of Mommy's family before Mommy took over. Either that, or the royal tutor or somethin'.
Speaking of Yuffie's mom's "official" name... Do we wanna use that for the 'verses, or stick with Naomi?
((Also, iz a yaoi?))
Thing is, Yuffie wouldn't know how traumatic fish really are! If the fishies get linked to it, though, I'm thinking Kaito doesn't really remember anything, but he associated the emotional response with fish. Or... meh, I dunno. Still thinkin'. Got any thoughts?
(Note: I said that Kaito didn't tell anyone about what he saw, but he will have told Yuffie shortly after the story begins. Still, he would have kept it to himself for eight years.)
===
Oh, I kind of like the idea of her being the royal tutor! Maybe a combination of stuff would work? She'd previously been the leader of the shrine before mommy, and after mommy took over, Izayoi got stuck in with the kids. She'd definitely have the experience for it.
For the 'verses, I'd say that I'm more inclined to stick with Naomi. What d'you think?
(orz, I *keep* mispelling it as that! orz orz orz HELP ME, TWIN.)
.... He got shoved in one of the rivers at the same time as Death Was Happenin'? I'm not sure. My brain is kind of fried from work (it was so busy~~ but one of the nightshift people randomly dropped by on their way back from KFC, and we got fed! Delicious chicken.). I'll... I'll admit, I really like the potential that this has. You could do the whole 'flashback at inopportune moments!' cliche. 8
===
First off, from yesterday: I've gotten fond of Naomi, and we put a lot of thought into picking it. I say we keep it. On that note, I'd been kicking around the idea for a while, but never got around to asking it: what think you of the idea of Kisaragi actually being Naomi's maiden name instead of Godo's name? (I think the reason I never asked was 'cause it probably doesn't fit too well into Klepto/South, but the stuff about other incarnation of Yuffie got me thinking about it again.)
===
Definitely keeping Naomi, then. ♥ It just… works, all the way across the 'verses. As for the idea of Kisaragi being her maiden name… mmn, I like it! I'm not sure it'd work so well for Klepto/South, but it makes more sense that Godo marries into her family in Pandora, rather than her marrying into Godo's.
===
The issue for Klepto/South seems to me to basically is the issue of "do not want" for the twins and using Godo's name. I definitely agree that it makes more sense that Godo's marrying into Naomi's family in Pandoraverse, but that can be worked around it by a case of "if you use my name, it'll protect the twins"... sort of. I'm not sure the royal family would like them using a name that would only be associated through their mom's second marriage, but they might be okay with them using Mommy's maiden name. Other possibilities: maybe Mommy's family is still important somehow in Klepto/South, so the bum was still marrying in?
===
If we go down that route for Klepto/South, too, would that make Reeve a Kisaragi, too? Or… To be honest, I kind of like the set-up we have for Klepto/South right now, with Kaito going "not happening" with regards to using Godo's name. Having Godo marrying into Naomi's family for Pandora would probably have a number of the royals going "=| BUT HE'S A BUM", but. …. Well, I do know some people who married, but they still kept their names separate. So whatever we decide on, there'll be a way to do it.
===
No, Reeve is a (half-)Kuroba that uses his mom's name. To emphasize here for the sake of clarity: ALL relations/name/etc. have to be the same in ALL 'verses. It's not a different universe, it's the same one that took a different path. Alternate timeline, if you will. Someone can't be born into a different family, because then it would be a different person.
But yeah, Kaito being D: over having to use Godo's name is a lot of why I never brought up the possibility before now. If we keep it so that Godo's the Kisaragi, his family'll have to have some amount of sway, I think, for the royals to allow it. They didn't like Toichi marrying Naomi, but he did and she's the mother of the royal heirs. They probably keep her on a tighter leash than they did Toichi when it comes to her remarriage. (Though actually, if she's the Kisaragi? I can sort of see her having NOT married Godo (yet?), and he's still trying to court her. And the twins can be all D: about that.)
Taking a cue from alternate!Yuffie, maybe Godo's family is the royal family's gofers, or advisors, or something.
===
Ahh, okay. I just got thrown off; was still thinking of Reeve as Naomi's brother. Maybe I'm just confused. … Actually there is no maybe about it. I blame it on the delicious ham I just had. Mmm, ham. Speaking of delicious, and this is completely unrelated, but. Are there any English candies or anything that you've ever wanted to try? I'm gonna be smuggling some over, so.
Hmm, if Godo has to have sway… I'm not exactly sure what role we could slot him/his family-line into, since we put Mommy in charge of the pagoda already. If we took a page out of the Early File's book and had him doing 'the dirty work', I'd imagine that the royal family would be even *less* inclined to let a marriage go ahead… royal family's advisor could work. (D:? Forget D:! At least on Yuffie's end, there will be gratuitous and outright sabotage. ♥)
===
I was leaning towards advisor, but now I'm thinking maybe something military related? So that we can tie in the "he used to be cool, but now he's a loser" thing since the Wutai military is, y'know, extinct. Got an opinion on the already-married vs. still-courting thing?
===
Oooh, military could work! And it'd definitely work for "used to be cool, now a loser bum with a dojo" idea. I'm kind of liking the idea that he's still courting Naomi. Gives us more stuff to work with, in a way? (I can... kind of see Yuffie going "You're not marrying Mom unless you beat me. :|" or something equally cliche at some point, too).
===
...She would. She so would. Okay, Godo is official ex-military and courting Naomi now. There was just something kind of weird-feeling about them being married in Pandoraverse. Probably because of the royal family thing.
===
... Y'know. I'm almost tempted to say that he beats Yuffie, but loses to Naomi. And so has to go through the whole thing again at a later date. Yuffie'd be absolutely *horrified*, but... 'realistically' (for the 'verses), I don't think he'd win. I'll think about it a little.
===
Ahahah, that'd be hilarious. GOING WITH IT. :D (And for Pandoraverse, it's wholly possible for him to win, because of the military thing. He's not as much of a loser as in Klepto/South.)
===
Well, I was keeping FF7 canon in mind, but. \o/ It's too funny to pass up, really. GO FOR IT. And after trying to get a rematch and failing, she would sulk. Sulkily.
===
Godo's probably been at it since a year or two after Toichi's death. I don't think eleven-year-old Yuffie has a prayer of beating him. (Maybe part of why she's so damn awesome is secretly due to her extensive training so that Godo can't ever HOPE to marry Mommy.) I can totally see her challenging him twice a year or so, and it getting harder and harder for Godo to manage winning. He probably had to start (secretly) using dirty tricks by the time she was 15.
===
Ahh, yeah; when she's that young, she really doesn't stand much of a chance, no matter how much natural talent she has. And by sixteen, she could *probably* pull it to a draw... if not a win, as a nod to FF7? Lawl at Godo using dirty tricks. He so would. And maybe the royal family secretly look forward to the twice-yearly entertainment. |D
